The Physics Mentoring Project couldn’t run without our dedicated, enthusiastic team of mentors each year.

Our mentors are undergraduate and postgraduate students from Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff University, the Open University, Swansea University, the University of South Wales, or Wrexham University.

All mentors have a post-16 qualification in a physical science. The project holds a two-day training weekend each year which is delivered by our Agored Cymru accredited partners CreoSkills.

Each year, we ensure our cohort of mentors come from a wide range of backgrounds to promote diverse role models and meet our aims of increasing the uptake of girls in physics. Mentors throughout the project have studied a wide range of subjects, including Computer Science, Criminology, English, Engineering, Law, Mathematics, and Medicine. Our cohort includes Welsh speakers, international students, and mentors that have been working with us for a few years. They are all enthusiastic and passionate about inspiring a new generation of scientists.
