“The mentor made it really fun and interesting for us, he was also very helpful.”
Our mentors are students from Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, Cardiff University, Swansea University or University of South Wales. They have all previously completed Physics A levels (or the international equivalent). Before they start mentoring, each mentor has completed a two-day training weekend which explores mentoring theory, the structure and aims of the project and how to use the equipment.
Our current mentor cohort is 27% female. They are studying a range of courses, including Computer Games Development, Astrophysics and Engineering. There are first-language Welsh speakers and students from the US, Cyprus and Norway, currently studying in Wales. They are all enthusiastic and passionate about inspiring a new generation of scientists.
If you are thinking about becoming a mentor for the Physics Mentoring Project and you are:
- enthusiastic about Physics and its benefits,
- an undergraduate at one of the above universities and,
- have completed a Physics A level or equivalent
